PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
May 11, 2012
This afternoon the administration of Stratford High School conducted a modified lockdown of the school between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. Students remained in their Period 6 classes and regular instruction continued for the duration of the lockdown.
While there was no specific or imminent threat to our students or the building, we conducted the modified lockdown so that members of the Stratford Police Canine Division and other local units could conduct a sweep of our building to safeguard our students and to protect school property.
Stratford Board of Education Policy #5130 and Connecticut State Law permit school officials to conduct building sweeps to safeguard school students and to protect school property. This policy is outlined in the student handbook which was distributed at the beginning of the school year. It is also reviewed with our students regularly in our daily morning announcements, and on Wednesday, a letter was sent home with students as a reminder.
If you have any questions or concerns that you would like to bring to my attention, please feel free to contact me at 203-385-4230 or email at lasekm@stratfordk12.org.
Sincerely,
Margaret M. Lasek Principal
